Health Benefits

As an avid foodie, I can’t get enough of the deliciousness that comes with avocado. Not only is it a tasty addition to any dish, but the health benefits that come with this superfood are just as incredible. In fact, did you know that by incorporating baked avocado fries into your diet, you may just be doing your body a huge favor?

Avocado

Rich in healthy fats, fiber, and potassium, avocados have been proven to aid in weight loss, reduce inflammation, and promote healthy digestion. By swapping out traditional potato fries for their avocado counterpart, you are not only cutting down on unhealthy fats but also giving your body a nutrient-packed snack that will leave you feeling satisfied.

Oregano

Oregano is high in antioxidants, which can help protect against cell damage and inflammation in the body.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Olive oil is a rich source of healthy fats and also contains anti-inflammatory compounds. It is known to be heart-healthy, while breadcrumbs provide a crunchy texture without adding unnecessary calories.

Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside!

Ingredients

Let’s gather the ingredients!

  • 2 avocados firm but ripe
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ tbsp oregano dried
  • ¼ tbsp cayenne pepper powder
  • ½ tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tbsp lime juice freshly squeezed
  • cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions

Let’s Begin!

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, add the flour, oregano, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and kosher salt. Stir to combine. Pour them onto a plate.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the lime juice and olive oil. Add ½ cup breadcrumbs onto another plate.
  • Set up an assembly line with the plate of flour, then the bowl of oil, then the plate of breadcrumbs.
  • Cut the avocado into slices about ¾-inch thick.
  • Dredge each slice in the flour mixture. Then dip it in the olive oil mixture and tap off the excess into the bowl. Gently press it into the breadcrumbs to coat it well.
  • Lay the slices on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat for all the slices. When the breadcrumbs start to get sticky and wet, refresh them with the remaining ½ cup of dry breadcrumbs.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden and crispy. Serve warm, with a dipping sauce as desired.
  • Enjoy with family and friends!
